Kumbh Vivah is performed for a bride or groom whose horoscope shows a severe Mangal Dosh, on the understanding that this first marriage absorbs the dosh, leaving the real marriage that follows unaffected. The person undergoes a full symbolic wedding ceremony with a consecrated kumbh (or a Vishnu/Peepal representation, per family tradition), complete with mantras, pheras and a small vidhi of separation from the kumbh afterward.कुंभ विवाह उस वर या वधू हेतु किया जाता है जिनकी कुंडली में गंभीर मंगल दोष हो, इस मान्यता के साथ कि यह प्रथम विवाह दोष को अवशोषित कर लेता है, जिससे उसके बाद होने वाला वास्तविक विवाह प्रभावित नहीं होता। व्यक्ति का एक पूर्ण प्रतीकात्मक विवाह समारोह पवित्र कुंभ (या परिवार की परंपरा अनुसार विष्णु/पीपल प्रतिनिधित्व) के साथ संपन्न कराया जाता है, जिसमें मंत्र, फेरे तथा उसके पश्चात कुंभ से पृथक्करण की एक लघु विधि शामिल है।
A consecrated kumbh is installed and worshipped as the symbolic spouse, the person completes a shortened wedding sequence — sankalp, mala/kalash pheras and mantras — before it, and the ceremony concludes with a formal vidhi releasing the person from this symbolic union, clearing the way for the real wedding.एक पवित्र कुंभ स्थापित कर उसे प्रतीकात्मक जीवनसाथी के रूप में पूजा जाता है, व्यक्ति उसके समक्ष एक संक्षिप्त विवाह क्रम — संकल्प, माला/कलश फेरे एवं मंत्र — पूर्ण करता है, तथा समारोह का समापन इस प्रतीकात्मक बंधन से व्यक्ति को मुक्त करने की औपचारिक विधि से होता है, जिससे वास्तविक विवाह का मार्ग प्रशस्त होता है।
